In light of the ongoing interventions in the Ring Road and Campo Grande Road Connection projects, carried out by Odebrecht Engineering & Construction in the West Zone of Rio de January, the Environmental department is promoting the preservation of species through the transplantation of trees that would otherwise be removed to enable the construction of a viaduct. The trees were relocated to the front of the Ana Gonzaga Park Palace, adding value to public heritage and reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability.
To carry out the transplantation, authorization from the Environmental Secretariat (SMAC) was required, along with soil preparation in the park to receive the trees. Among the relocated species are imperial palms over eight meters tall each, pau-brasil, and ipês, among other native trees of the region. The initiative aims to preserve environmental heritage and minimize the impact of urban intervention, promoting ecological balance.
According to Cristiane Silveira, Environmental Coordinator for the projects, “Actions like this demonstrate the company’s commitment to environmental preservation and care for the communities surrounding our works.”
